Ruut Veenhoven discusses the relationship between the mental health care and average happiness of nations.  Ruut shows that, for developed nations, greater mental health care is correlated with greater average life satisfaction, and to a much greater extent than somatic/physical health care.  You can view the paper discussed in the video here:
